The Natural Hair Whisperer
Adenike (aka Tamara) is a Master Barber/Stylist, Natural & Damage Hair Specialist and Certified Sisterlocks™ Consultant, Reiki Master & Raw Food Chef. She is the founder, owner and operator of The Woven Wool Natural Hair and Body Experience.
Adenike has committed herself to the process of re-educating people of color that “Good hair” is hair that is healthy and flowing. The only “Bad hair” is hair that is damaged and unhealthy.
The difference between manageable and unmanageable hair is the lack of knowledge on how to properly care for and maintain it. According to Adenike, one needs to understand that hair really is an extension of your skin and body. In order to take care of your hair you must begin from within. Thus her motto is “Hair Care From The Inside Out.”
Adenike has helped many people of color regain respect and love for their natural hair texture. She educates her clients on proper hair care and teaches them how to simply clean, condition, moisturize and style their hair. Adenike designs a hair care regimen for each client’s particular texture.
Hair and Body Health Connection
In addition to being a master natural hair care specialist, Adenike is also a Raw Food Chef & Reiki Master. She uses these disciplines to create a step-by-step holistic hair care regimen for her clients that encompasses mind, spirit & body.
According to the American Journal of Public Health, women of color are disproportionately impacted by chronic illnesses. These illnesses include depression, diabetes, asthma, infertility, lupus, cancer multiple sclerosis, heart disease and fibroids. These illnesses can almost always be linked to stress and they have a significant impact on the health of one’s hair. The good news is that these illnesses can often be managed through holistic health and wellness practices like Reiki and dietary changes.
Due to years of experience, Adenike has researched and studied how the foods we eat impact our overall body health and by extension the health of our hair. As a Reiki Master, she incorporates this discipline to empower her clients. She combines this knowledge with her expertise as a Raw Food Chef to teach clients about the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and how to use specific foods to grow beautiful healthy coils.
Adenike believes that “ in order for the body to look and feel its best, one must cultivate emotional as well as physical well-being”. She strives to teach her clients that a balance of mind, body and spirit is necessary in order to properly maintain healthy hair.
